I bought Wonder Woman 1984 on iTunes yesterday and watched it about ¾ of the way through. ๐Ÿฟ

What strikes me is that the film is incredibly slow. Not necessarily in a bad way. It takes its time, is rather unexciting, glides along leisurely. Then there are action scenes that are so unrealistic - okay, superheroes and all - that the contrast seems extremely high. And then there’s Pedro Pascal without a mustache. At first I thought: You know him! But it didn’t occur to me. But at some point I had it. And this role… he plays it magnificently and at the same time I hate it. Kristen Wiig is fantastic. A great foil to Wonder Woman. Strong, sexy, ruthless. Her transformation to this character is really well done.

I’m not through yet, after all, and I’m still in for the big ending. But as far as I’ve seen, I like the movie. It’s fun, albeit in a disturbingly different way. It’s like a Zen journey through the superhero movie world, while short, action-packed action scenes worth watching seem like they’re from another world, but still blend in wonderfully.

I’m excited to see what happens next.
